Happy Birthday Nate!

I have to take a moment to write about my amazing Husband!
Our son Gavin was born on Nate's birthday. Because of the circumstances behind Gavin's birth, he definitely got pushed to the side. I just want him to know how grateful I am to have him. He does so much for us and I don't know what I would do without him!
I love you! And Happy Birthday!

Home Sweet Home

Gavin finally on his way home!

What a sweet face! We think he looks just like Owen!

Siblings

Payton and Owen were so excited to meet Gavin. When they came the first day, he was in the Nicu and they were not allowed to see him. They were so sad. When Gavin was finally in my room, they came to see him!

Finally a Family of Five!

Introducing....
Gavin Wells Freeman
7lbs 6oz 20 1/4in
Born on January 14th 2011
at 7:58 am
at Banner Desert Medical Center
Delivered by Dr. Elton Bowen

Here is Gavin's Story:
On Thursday Jan 13th. I had a dr appt. They did an ultrasound and determined that Gavin needed to be delivered soon because he wasn't growing enough. My doctor told me that the hospital would call and let me know when to be at the hospital to be induced. Nate however, was in Michigan. Luckily he was flying home that night! The hospital called and wanted me at the hospital at 10pm. My mom drove me to the hospital and Nate drove straight from the airport to the hospital.
After getting settled in, they decided I needed some medication to get me ready to be induced. It was supposed to take 12 hours to work, and then they would give me pitocin to get me going. I called my mom and let her know it would be a while.
About an hour after getting the medication, I felt like I was in active labor. I called the nurse and told her I needed an epidural. She checked me and I was already at a 4 1/2. The nurse called for an epidural, I got one and of course was feeling great!
After a few hours, I started to feel contractions again. With my other two kids the epidural wore off so I knew I wanted to get more medicine in me! I called the nurse again, she checked me and I was at an 8. Things were definitely moving faster than expected! She also got me more medicine! I was feeling great again, and after a few minutes I thought my water broke. The nurse checked and unfortunately, my water had not broken, I was bleeding.
From here, things got a little crazy and scary. The nurse called my Dr and he came right away. He decided that my placenta had abrupted. The dr. broke my water and decided he wanted me to try and push a few times to see if we could quickly get the baby out. After a few pushes, Gavin's heart rate was too high and he was not recovering. He needed to come out right away and they needed to figure out why I was bleeding.
After having 2 fairly easy births, I was now being rushed to the Operating room for an emergency C-section.
From the time the bleeding was discovered to the time Gavin was born was about 15 or 20 minutes. I didn't have a whole lot of time to panic.
I did hear Gavin cry for a second and then they took him to the Nicu. He was having trouble breathing.
They continued to work on me, I had lost a lot of blood. And the next day needed to have 2 blood transfusions.
Gavin spent the first 3 days in the Nicu. I wasn't able to see him at all the first or second day. Nate was able to be with him and feed him. After the third day, they finally brought him to my room.
It was very eventful, but he is here now, and I am home and feeling better everyday!
We are so thankful for our newest addition to our family!

One of the days we had lunch at Joes Farm Grill, cupcakes and The Coffee Shop, and then bowling! It was a great day!

A day at the Park

We decided to have Christmas dinner on Sunday so that Ashley, Travis and Graham could come spend it with us. While we were cooking the kids had fun at the park!
