We had amazing second day on Kauai!
First we went to church.
We went to the Kapa'a First Ward in Kapa'a!
After church, we wanted to go Kayakiing up the river, but they werent taking tours up, so we decided to head up to the North shore and do a little bit of exploring along the way!
Our first stop was the Kilauea Lighthouse! It was beautiful! There they have a wildlife refuge. There were birds everywhere!
Next we stopped at the Hanalei Lookout. Here are the taro fields below!
Interesting fact about Kauai... there are roosters and chickens everywhere. They have no natural predators so they roam around free, but as far as roosters go... they are at least really pretty!
Then we stopped for lunch at Bubba's burgers in Hanalei.
We stopped at the Mani-ni-holo dry cave and Ha'ena Beach park.
And lastly we made it to the very end of the road on the North shore at Ke'e Beach.
So the road ends here and the only way to get any further is to hike! So, on a whim we decided to hike the Kalalau trail! The entire hike to the big beach is 12 miles in and 12 miles out, obviously we did not have time for this so we decided to see how far we could get and what we could see. It was well worth it!! The NaPali coast is beautiful!
Below are some pictures along our hike.
We made the 2 mile hike in to Hanakapi'ai Beach! And it was a real hike... but like I said it was worth the 4 mile journey!
And then we ended the day watching the sunset on Ke'e Beach!
